It is undeniable, in a dynamic world of work there are bound to be challenges and problems faced. However, how we solve these problems will determine our success at work. For that, it is very important to have the right solution.
Let's apply the A-E-I-O-U method to solve problems that might occur:
Acknowledge
Always prioritize positive intentions and put aside assumptions. Try to see other people's intentions and put yourself in their shoes. Try to understand and accommodate if possible his or her rationale and state it out loud directly to them.
Express
At this point, observation is important. Amplify positive intentions to others. Start to communicate your observations and express your concern
Identify
Propose the right solution by expressing your goals and recommendations for solving the problem. Identification of action plans by ownership and completion date.
Outcome
List down the benefits of existing solutions. Measure how far it can benefit you. Then, outline the steps that must be accommodated. People respond much more positively when they can see/buy/acknowledge reasons to change their actions/behavior.
Understanding
Feedback should be at this point. Understand what needs to be done whether it's independently or with your team. Make sure you understand it before moving on to the next stage
Throughout the A-E-I-O-U model, communication must be two-way and a conducive environment must be maintained for conflict resolution.
